Overview
The objective of the Ecohelix Project was to promote sustainable and ecological tourism in the Galapagos Islands, initially in San Cristóbal, through the creation of a virtual platform with information on local businesses linked to the tourism industry: hotels, restaurants, tour operators and entertainment sites. However, the project is currently inactive due to investment issues. For more informatión click in the link: USFQ News

The problem
and economic development. Therefore, the development of a website that allows raising awareness and promoting responsible tourism is and will be necessary. However, the real big problem was the lack of budget for the development of the platform that I had to adjust through the entire project.
The goal
- Promote sustainable and ecological tourism through entrepreneurship and international collaboration
- Raise awareness through digital content
- Create strategically calls to action to encourage interaction and be part of the project
- Generate a unique user experience using the latest design trends
The solution
The focus of the web platform was to attract the user by building a sentimental bond towards responsible tourism for the Galapagos ecosystem. As a result, the website was made of impact messages and media that made the user fall in love of the enchanted islands while browsing the site. On the other hand, many functionalities were developed such as a booking system to present stores with their respective rankings. Also, a web form was presented to carry out crowfunding in different community projects and lastly, a e-learning platform was integrated to educate entrepreneurs on topics such as ecotourism, business, entrepreneurship, etc.
Unfortunately, the project is currently inactive and was unable to take off due to funding issues. However, in the opinion of many it was a great idea but with very small support from part of the government in projects of this social impact.
